at Glow Studios Vancouver
1026 Davie Street, Unit 400, Buzz 200
$35 per class
$100 for a full week pass
NOTE: To sign up for multiple single days, simply select the first day from the drop down and ‘ADD TO CART’, then return to this page and do the same for the other days before checking out!
OPEN LEVEL
Calling all movers, your coven awaits. It’s time to convene, carouse and create. Dive into the themes of Viscera’s latest production, Sequelae, in this series of 1.5 hour dance workshops led by Nikki Viscera. In each workshop, you will explore the possibilities of horror dance and the depths of each theme through a number of exercises, then bring it all together with a powerful piece of choreography.
Each day is it’s own adventure, so choose the themes you crave most or grab a full week pass and devour all four.
———
Monday, July 15: Love or Lust
HEELS
Delve into something sinful and feed your insatiable hunger. At the intersection where sexy and slimy meet, we’ll be getting deep into some inner demons and the desperation we feel when we fight (or beg) for the one that we want. What lengths will you go to have your love, and eat them too?
Tuesday, July 16: Reckless Rebellion
HEELS
This class will feel like holding a knife to the throat of those who try to burn you. Empowered and twisted, we will pick our enemies apart and let them watch as we feast upon them. The movement will have a viciousness and will leave you with that unstoppable energy. We’re out here fighting for our lives.
Wednesday, July 17: The Gravity of Grief
NO HEELS
A night of delving into the profound darkness of grief and pain where we will navigate the weight of our sorrow and the downward pull of our heaviest emotions. We’ll explore the depths of the human experience as we convey the complexities of loss, and the resilience that is required to carry on. Here we will create a space for healing and introspection through movement.
Thursday, July 18: Undead & Unnerving
NO HEELS
Explore a part of yourself that’s a little less human… some straight up back-from-the-dead monster shit. In this class, you will rediscover what you thought you knew about your nightmares. We’re going to break the boundaries of “beautiful movement” and become something much more embodied and primal. What lies outside of our human experience? How far are you willing to step out of your comfort zone?
———
These classes are OPEN LEVEL, but recommended for folks with some dance experience, comfortability learning choreo and ability to manage their own level of participation and modify, if needed, to ensure safety.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing you can move freely in (you are welcome to dress sexy, scary, comfy or whatever you like!). For the HEELS classes, please wear safe, dance-appropriate heels (if choosing not to wear heels, runners are recommended). Bring a water bottle! Please feel free to reach out via email at viscerapresents@gmail.com if you have any other questions about attire or what to bring.
THE STUDIO: Buzz #200 to be let into the building, and then take the stairs up to the top floor to access the studio (we apologize this is not an accessible venue).
