Pack your dance bags and hold tight to your flashlights! We’re going to summer camp... with a sinister twist. Join us for three nights of in-depth information, self investigation and explorative expression to discover what makes the hair on your arm stand up straight. Viscera’s founder, Nikki, will break down the “How To”s and the “Oh God, Why?”s of horror dance and divulge the secret recipe to a petrifying performance.

DAY ONE (Monday, August 7th)
Exploring Horror Movement: A guide to making dance “scary” and the thought process behind the manipulation of movement. Breaking the beautiful boundaries that normally encompass our perception of dance.

DAY TWO (Tuesday, August 8th)
Horror Character Study: Finding deep connection to a terrifying (or terrified) character. Elevating performance beyond the body and really tapping into what makes the monsters tick.

DAY THREE (Wednesday, August 9th)
Storytelling Through Choreography: Learning a more substantial piece of choreo and then exploring the many different ways we can effectively present it to an audience and how to bring them along on a disturbing journey.

———

Some experience is recommended. This dance camp is curated for novice/intermediate to advanced dancers and movers.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing you can move freely in (you are welcome to dress sexy, scary, comfy or whatever you like!) and no shoes (socks, bare feet, dance slippers). Bring a water bottle! You may also want a notebook. Please feel free to reach out via email at viscerapresents@gmail.com if you have any other questions about attire or what to bring.

THE STUDIO: Buzz #200 to be let into the building, and then take the stairs up to the top floor to access the studio (we apologize this is not an accessible venue).
